okay let me see if I can give a spin on this. Being part of a community isn't a thing I've really done, but I can give some thoughts.
If you find that any relationship, friends, family, or an online community, is harmful to you you should take steps to distance yourself from that relationship.
The way I see it, you can keep the friend stuff out of the way when you display your hyperfixiations, I'm sure people can find interest in that even if you only share it as a blog post by yourself or something similar. Try to seek to find relationships outside of online communities, which might include elitism, other destructive not welcoming auras/things/habits; and rather try to find welcoming communities outside of fandoms, or perhaps even fandoms you're not interested in since you're only looking for companionship.
Making friends isn't really my thing but I think you can find other sources of companionship. I couldn't tell you what though cause I simply do not know.
I realise this is pretty much paraphrasing what @Yatsufusa (I don't know if you're interested in being mentioned) already said, but I hope that it can still offer some new perspectives for you.

I only ever hear bad things about "fandoms" when I read the Artist News, but since you asked:
Rather than trying to fit in with a pre-existing community, you could create fanart the way 'you' like it and hope that like-minded people find their way to you. I'd imagine that 'especially' stuff like 'Osmosis Jones' that is barely known would draw in people.
